Our Company and History

Hong Equipment and Development Corporation (HEAD Corp.) was established in Cebu City, Philippines, 1983. Its initial client was National Irrigation Administration (NIA). The company undertook various projects such as dams, canals, and drainage systems in several areas, i.e. Bohol, Leyte, and Cebu. This development led to the acquisition of earth moving equipment – mostly backhoes, bulldozers, payloaders, dumptrucks, and vibro compactors.

The rapid development of the prawn industry in the mid-1980’s contributed to the growth of the company. Again, additional equipment were acquired as more roads and dikes for the prawn ponds were constructed.

In the 1990’s, several construction projects were undertaken for new major clients. Most were for Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC-EDC) projects at their geothermal sites in Mt. Apo, Davao, Palimpinon, Negros Oriental and Tongonan, Leyte. A tailings dam for Philex Mining Corporation was also constructed by the company at Hinobaan, Negros Occidental.

The company has also been a sub-contractor of Hanjin Industries and Construction Co.Ltd. The first sub-contract awarded was the one million cubic meter earth moving works at Davao International Airport which was completed in the year 2000, followed by an earth dam and irrigation canal works of the Bohol Irrigation Project Phase II, which was completed on December 2007.

On-going works include the hauling of gypsum and fertilizers at Philippine Phosphate and Fertilizer Corp. in Isabel, Leyte; on-going since 1999. This activity increased the company’s list of equipment to include: Cranes, Forklifts, Tractor Heads, and Trailers. In Ormoc City, various types of corporate service vehicles are being rented by Energy Development Corporation (EDC) – Tongonan since 2008.

The company has also diversified into the warehouse rental business. A 1,200 square meter warehouse in Tacloban City was first constructed and by the year 2004 it has expanded to a total of 10,000 square meters on a 2-hectare property.

In 2009, the company started to provide container yard services with Negros Navigation Inc. as its major client in Davao City and Cebu. Activities involve container lift-on and lift-off, container van storage, and container van hauling. With this new venture, the company acquired two additional real estate properties (more than 3 hectares) strategically located near Sasa wharf.  To increase container van hauling capacity, additional tractor heads, trailers, top-lifters and reach stackers were acquired.

From its founding year up to the present, HEAD Corporation has been a company dedicated to providing excellent and efficient services for its clients. The company has matured in its expertise in the field of general construction, warehousing services, and port logistics while continually acquiring new expertise and capacity to best address the ever-growing needs of its partner clients.
